Here is Lola’s second lesson for Target. Target is the work I use in Agility for all contacts, to get them to stop, collect themselves, and ensure I don’t get a fault for a missed contact. I spend a lot of time on this lesson so that I can use my “Target” command when she sees the contact equipment. In the first lesson, I did guide her a lot. While this is not ideal, I have limited space, so I did use a guiding hand. In this second lesson, I do not guide her as much or as often. I am now looking for Lola to start to figure out what I want. I also use a word she can associate with the behavior she is learning.
This is a shorter training session, I stop when I feel I got a good “Win” in the training. Try not to get “One More Itis” meaning, she did it well, so let’s do it some more to re-enforce. At the end of the video, I could have stopped after her first perfect touch, but I began to get the itch to do one more. By making her do the exercise 2 more times I risked her making a mistake and having to work for a really good win to end on. In this case, I got lucky and she continued to do well so I stopped on a high note. I can’t wait to see how she does on her third lesson! Stay tuned!
